Join us in the second floor Atrium (former public library) of the Homestake Opera House for an afternoon of music, community engagement, and discovery as we celebrate a "Songwriter's Showcase!" Musicians from across the Northern Black Hills will be gathering to present songs they have written (and a few covers) along with the stories of how those songs came to be.
The Background: Since June of this year, a group has been meeting just once a month at the Gnarly Pine on Main Street in Lead. The goal has been to cultivate songwriting. In all, about a dozen have participated in this group, and now 6 of the members are ready to showcase some of their songs. Writers come from Lead, Deadwood, Hermosa, and Spearfish Canyon. All ages and levels of experience are also represented in the Songwriter's Circle.
Randy Hedge, resident of Elmore in Spearfish Canyon, is organizing and facilitating this group. Jenn Bennett has graciously provided the space for this group to meet each week. For more information about the songwriter's group, please contact Randy Hedge at elmore1057@gmail.com.
The program held on Thursday, November 6 at 4 p.m. will be an informal presentation of songs written by the members of the group. A few cover songs will also be offered. There will be two rounds of three members each time, who will tell the stories about the song, and then play it for the audience. Light refreshments will be available. There is no cost for the event. For information, please contact the Homestake Opera House at 605-584-2067.
