Born and raised in Greenfield, Indiana, Todd is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Religion. Following his graduation from university, Todd received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Alcohol and Drug Addiction Ministry from Methodist Theological School in Ohio before embarking on a career in full-time ministry.
Serving as a solo or Senior Pastor in churches in Ohio, Iowa, and eastern South Dakota, Todd had the opportunity to work with numerous denominational groups and parachurch organizations before stepping away from full-time ministry in 2017. Having served for nearly 24 years in ministry, Todd and his family moved to the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota in the fall of 2017, and Todd entered the public sector, working for the United States Postal Service in Rapid City and in Lead, SD. While serving with the United States Postal Service in Lead and volunteering at the Homestake Opera House, Todd learned of the opening for the Executive Director position and knew this was an opportunity to meld his years of non-profit experience with his passion for theatre and the arts.
As the Executive Director, Todd brings a wide range of experience to the table, a heart for community , and a tenacity born from years walking with people through the stages of life. Much more than a theatrical space, he sees the Historic Homestake Opera House as a center of community life and culture. Thus, he believes that we are called not merely to maintain and restore the physical structure of the building, but to preserve, enrich, and enliven the cultural and artistic legacy that we have inherited. With a vision for operational and artistic excellence, Todd’s heart is to build upon the solid foundation that we have inherited and are now blessed to foster for future generations
As the new Executive Director, Todd is genuinely honored to come alongside you, to learn from you, to expand upon the legacy of the Historic Homestake Opera House, and to walk with you on this wonderful journey. He comes to the Historic Homestake Opera House with a desire, not to see it as it was, but to see it as it is meant to be—to see it equipped to serve as a center for the arts, education, and community for years to come. Therefore, he believes, we do not seek only to restore the grandeur, but to prepare for the future with an eye toward sustainability and fiscal responsibility.
